Message From the Pastor

Dear Family of Fatih,

Can you believe that summer is drawing to a close? That's right it's time again to watch for school buses, and anticipate the cooler fall weather. The month of September also marks the beginning of a new church year. We are reminded afresh and anew of our Lords command to reach out to others with the Gospel.

Matt 28: 18-20 And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world, Amen.

Sharing the Gospel of Christ is not an easy task in an increasingly hostile world. Many of our friends and neighbors are antagonistic towards Christianity in general and at the local church in particular. This is not a local phenomenon. Across our nation many who once appeared to have a vibrant faith have fallen away. Our Lord describes them as sheep without a shepherd (Matt. 9:36). What are we to do in response to this national crisis in lieu of the great commission? Two thoughts from the Scriptures come to mind.

1. Where there is life there is hope. Isaiah 42:3 A bruised reed shall he not break, and the smoking flax shall he not quench: he shall bring forth judgment unto truth. We should never give up hope that the Spirit of God would move and restore others. We need to be people of prayer and encouragement. God in his time will bring his children back into the fold. We need to be like the Father who went every day and looked for his son to return. When the rebellious son returned there was great joy.

2. As we pray and persevere for those who have lost their way, we need to be mindful of our own hearts. Only in fellowship with our Lord will we have his security (Gen. 28:15) his encouragement (Exodus 3:12, Hebrews 13: 5-6) his strength (Joshua 1:5) his comfort (Jeremiah 1:8) his confidence (Matt. 28:20, Phil 4:13). We cannot do God's work without God; we all need the mind of Christ (Phil 2:5).

Brothers and Sisters let us walk in love and seek the salvation of lost souls and the restoration of God's children for His Glory.

Much Love in Christ,

Pastor Woody
